On Monday, November 24 at 7 PM, the Charlama Depot gallery will host the poetic action “Monument to the Deserter,” conceived by poet, translator, and professor at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, Đurđica Čilić, inspired by the poem “Deserters” by Tadeusz Różewicz.

The artistic action “Monument to the Deserter” stands in opposition to the cult of war and the military, serving as a tribute to all those who refuse to participate in violence. In a time of accelerated militarization and fear-driven propaganda, the act of desertion becomes a radical expression of care for life and human dignity.

The verses of Tadeusz Różewicz will be interpreted by actor Alban Ukaj.

Following the performance, a panel discussion will be held featuring: Đurđica Čilić, poet, translator, and professor at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb; Adisa Bašić, writer and professor at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Sarajevo; Senadin Musabegović, writer and professor at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Sarajevo; Jasmin Agić, writer and publicist; and Jasmin Duraković, film director and sociologist.

The panel will be moderated by publicist and journalist Kristina Ljevak, as stated in the press release from CKA Charlama.
