Milomir Kovačević Strašni (born in 1961 in Čajniče, Bosnia and Herzegovina) is one of the most important Bosnian photographers and visual chroniclers of Sarajevo. He has been engaged in photography since the late 1970s, developing a body of work that encompasses documentary, artistic, and authorial photography. During the 1980s, he documented Sarajevo’s urban life, alternative culture, music scene, and everyday reality, creating a unique visual record of a generation and a city.

During the Siege of Sarajevo (1992–1995), he produced some of his most acclaimed photographs, capturing not only the hardships of war but also the dignity, creativity, and resilience of the city’s inhabitants. Following his relocation to Paris in 1995, he continued an active artistic career, exhibiting extensively in solo and group exhibitions throughout Europe and beyond.

Kovačević is the recipient of numerous national and international awards, including the French National Order of Merit and the Sixth of April Award of the City of Sarajevo. His photographs are held in important public and private collections and are regarded as an essential part of the visual memory of Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

His work represents a unique synthesis of documentary testimony, personal witness, and visual poetry, establishing him as one of the leading figures of contemporary photography in Southeast Europe.
